Why Detail Index

A directory built to help you decide — not to push you somewhere.

No pay-to-play

Listings are not for sale.

Rankings are never influenced by payment. Featured placements exist, but are labeled as such — always.

Three-tier verification

We show you what we know.

Verified, confirmed, or likely — every data point on a business page carries a visible confidence level.

Local context

Climate data where it matters.

City pages include UV, humidity, hail frequency, and road-salt exposure — the variables that determine which service you actually need.

Real reviews only

No review inflation.

Review counts and ratings are pulled from verified sources. We surface the sample size so you can weigh it yourself.

Browse by city

Detailers in every major US metro.

City pages include local climate context — UV, humidity, hail frequency, road-salt exposure — so you can weigh the services that actually matter for where you drive.

The case for protection

Paint wears out. Your choice is where and when you pay for it.

UV oxidation, iron fallout, road tar, tree sap, bird etching, and rock strikes are cumulative. They show up on resale. Ceramic coating, paint protection film, and regular detailing delay the damage — and the right combination depends on where you live and what you drive.

2–7 yr
Ceramic coating lifespan

Consumer-grade: 2 years. Professional: 5–7 years with annual maintenance wash.

$1.2k–$8k
PPF install range

Partial front to full-body. Priced by vehicle size, coverage zones, and film grade.

6–9 mo
Coating pre-wear window

New paint cures fully in about six to nine months. Coatings apply cleanest after cure.

Certified installers

Find the installer for the brand you want.

Manufacturer certification means the installer has completed brand-specific training and sells warrantied product. We track certified installers for every major PPF, ceramic, and tint manufacturer.

What people ask before booking.

Pulled from our editorial guides. Links go deeper if you need specifics — pricing pages, warranty comparisons, and vehicle-specific walkthroughs.

How much does ceramic coating cost?
Professional ceramic coating typically runs $600–$2,000 depending on the vehicle size, paint correction required, and coating brand. A two-year coating on a mid-size sedan averages $800. Detail Index publishes current pricing ranges for every major metro.
Is paint protection film worth it?
For new vehicles, a daily-driven enthusiast car, or anything garaged in a gravel-heavy region, PPF pays back its cost within a year or two by preventing rock chips that would otherwise require panel repainting. Full-front coverage is the most common package.
How do I find a trustworthy detailer?
Look for manufacturer certification for the brand being installed (XPEL, Gtechniq, etc.), written warranties, and a climate-controlled installation bay. Detail Index surfaces all three on every business page and flags verification status clearly.
What is the difference between ceramic coating and PPF?
Ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that cures into a hydrophobic glass-like layer, protecting against UV, chemicals, and water spots. PPF is a clear urethane film that physically protects against rock chips, light scratches, and road debris. Many owners apply both.
Does Detail Index rank or recommend one business over another?
No. We do not sell placement, we do not accept payment for rankings, and featured listings are clearly labeled as such. Business order on city pages is determined by distance and filter criteria chosen by the visitor — never by commercial relationship.
How do I claim my listing as a business owner?
Visit the Claim page, submit your business name and owner email, and we verify through a combination of website ownership, phone callback, and physical-address confirmation. Verified businesses receive the purple check mark on every page where they appear.
